Northern Mining Company is proudly part of Northern Sand & Gravel, a faith-based, family-owned business that has been mining its own aggregates for over 46 years. We’ve supplied the materials to build strong foundations across the Upper Peninsula—and now, we’re using that same expertise to build something else: wonder.
At our site, mining for kids becomes a real adventure. Visitors can pan for real gemstones, arrowheads, and fossils using our Mighty Sluice, all while learning how geology and mining shape the world we live in. It’s educational fun in Michigan that’s as exciting as it is enriching.
The experience is located inside The Warehouse—a one-of-a-kind space in Sault Ste. Marie that includes:
- A tool, boot, and workwear store for men and women
- Locally made goods, mining toys, and kid-friendly gifts
- And The Pit Stop Snack Shack, serving up hearty sandwiches, ice cream, and dangerously good sweet treats
