Ol’ Nugget Ned was born somewhere between a gold vein and a gravel pile—and rumor has it, he came out swinging a tiny pickaxe. By the time he was 5, he’d already dug up a rusty horseshoe, three mystery marbles, and a jawbreaker he claims was “fossilized.” Folks say he once built a rock collection so big, the local raccoons held a garage sale just to make room.
As he grew, so did his love of diggin’. Ned panned creeks, tunneled hillsides, and even tried mining in a sandbox (until he hit a Tonka truck). But for him, it’s never just been about the treasure—it’s the thrill of the hunt, the sparkle in the dirt, and the tales each shiny rock tells. He’s got a backpack full of gems, a head full of stories, and a heart made of—you guessed it—solid gold.
One day, Ned stumbled upon The Mighty Sluice at Northern Mining Company, shouted “WELL STRIKE MY PICKAXE!” and never left. Now, he’s the official guide for junior miners, helping kids discover arrowheads, fossils, gemstones—and their own love of digging in the dirt. And if you’re lucky, Ol’ Nugget Ned will bestow upon you your very own official miner name (like “Shiny Boots McGee” or “Dirtpile Dottie”). It’s a badge of honor... and slightly dusty.
