Encourage Exploration
At Northern Mining Company, we believe curiosity is the spark that leads to discovery. Our staff encourages every child to ask questions, explore their surroundings, and see the wonder in the world beneath their feet. This isn't just a field trip -- it's a chance to inspire the next generation of explorers.
Dig Into Learning
We'll begin with a brief lesson about the history of mining and why mining is important to our daily lives. We'll learn about the types of materials that can be found in the earth.
Take Home Treasure
Each child can pick from one of our bags of mining rough and will use the Mighty Sluice to clean the material to reveal either gemstones, fossils or arrowheads. They will be given tools to both identify and learn about what they found. They will be able to take their findings home.
Time for Lunch
We make lunch simple and easy. Our in-store cafe will have freshly prepared lunches that are perfectly suited to the group. Tables are available on-site for a fun and relaxed meal. Ice Cream is an optional treat available at the end of the day.
Earn Your Junior Miner Names
Every miner needs a name! After completing their training, each child will receive a special Junior Miner Name -- think Ruby McRocks or Gravel Gabe. It's a playful rite of passage and a fun way to mark their adventure at the Mighty Sluice.
